Take a stroll along Donggung Palace and Wolji Pond, a man-made body of water that used to form part of a lavish, 7th-century palace compound. Abandoned after the fall of the Silla Empire in 935 CE, the pond and its structures were renovated in 1974, during which time an array of relics and artifacts were excavated. Admire the scenic vista of the pond and its ancient buildings, some rebuilt and some originals. In the exhibition hall nearby, you can view over 700 of the thousands of art pieces, religious objects, decorations, and everyday items that were found in the pond area. The location is a fascinating, historic park/museum of a traditional Korean village. I highly recommend going at night time when all of the walking path and building lights are on. The light displays.... more »

Woji/Anapji pond was also the site of a palace. They've rebuilt a couple of the pagodas, which gives you a great feel for how it would have looked. You can also see the outline of the old buildings and appreciate the scale. The largest pagoda also includes some museum displays and a GIANT model of what the palace would have looked like. It's a beautiful park in general, but it's also a great way to see the scale and grandeur that used to be there. It's also a good stop if you're walking from the Tombs to the Observatory to the National Museum.

It is also known as Anapji Pond I've visited this place at night during the spring. It's so romantic with the light-up and all. There are a lot of couples visit this place together. Apart from the romantic vibe, the place itself is beautiful. The reflections in the water makes this place looks more stunning. You should not miss this place if you're visiting Gyeongju. I would love to go back again.
