Initially used as the Korean army headquarters, The War Memorial of Korea today serves to memorialize the nation's military history. Established in 1993, the building contains six indoor exhibition halls and one outdoor center, which displays more than 13,000 military items and war memorabilia. With the purpose to educate future generations by collecting, preserving, and showcasing historical records and relics, the museum has become one of the most prominent touristic landmarks of its kind in the world. Explore the halls divided into different themes, such as the Korean War, war history, and large equipment room, among others. Some special exhibitions require purchasing a ticket. Well laid out and has lots of exhibitions detailing the various periods of Korea. The Korean war exhibition is interesting to look at, but the recount of events is more biased (and pro-US / UN) than it needs to be. A simple neutral recounting of the facts would have been appreciated (rather than the non-stop rhetoric about how the UN is the defender of all freedom and US being the saviour of mankind).

Overall I loved it and spent several hours wondering the different exhibits. Definitely give yourself plenty of time as I ran out as the museum was closing. Overall obviously it's very sided to South Korea's point of view but they did a great job of appreciating the UN country forces that assisted in the Korea war and it was nice to see. I even enjoyed the Vietnam section more than any museum I've been to in Vietnam so they did a great job.
