  • One morning discovered a baby duckling outside my cousin’s apartment complex. Not exactly sure what to do or the correct steps to be taken, I drove to petco hoping they would be able to assist me. At first they said maybe an animal shelter, until the manager walked up and recommended Back to Nature Wildlife Refuge. Pulling it up on google maps it was a drive, not going to lie there but it was worth it. Once I pulled up parked my car and walked the little guy who was shivering in the 80 degree weather in Orlando, FL I knew I had to be haste. So quickening my stride I pounded the door only to see a button to ring. I was quickly connected with a woman who I explained the situation. Only waiting maybe a minute another young woman greeted me. She looked inside the cardboard box, where the little one was sitting. She asked me a great deal of questions and I knew she truly cared about this baby duckling. I filled out some paperwork and made sure it was all good. This place was beautiful and open spaced. A perfect place for the wildlife who have been abandoned or lost to find their way back to nature.
  • Visited briefly on a suffocatingly hot August day with my grandson. A small facility obviously very well cared for, and with such a good mission. We were greeted by a pair of Sandhill cranes who seemed very curious about the featherless two-legged beings but did not startle or flee from us. Many animals resting in their shady shelters, but we saw an emu, red-tailed hawk, lemur and turkey vulture. The air was full of butterflies as most of the plantings attract pollinators. The facility has a number of beehives as well. I was very taken by this earnest enterprise and encourage everyone to visit and support it.
