Pantheon is the secular burial place of many notable people who helped to form the history and identity of France, such as Voltaire, Victor Hugo, Jean-Jacques Rousseau, and Marie Curie. Built from 1764 to 1790, this monument is a masterpiece by the famous architect Soufflot, who built it as a church in dedication to St. Genevieve. This early example of neoclassical architecture has a façade modeled on the Pantheon in Rome, topped by a dome that owes some of its character to Bramante's "Tempietto." From the outside, marvel at the massive portico of Corinthian columns as well as the triple dome. Inside, you can't help but to notice the coffered inner dome covered with an ornately painted fresco by Antoine Gros, called "The Apotheosis of Saint Genevieve." • Fascinating and comprehensive audio guide that demonstrates various aspects of France’s interesting past, from monarchy to revolution to imperial rule. I didn’t have to queue for very long to buy...

  • In Paris, I stumbled upon Pantheon on a stroll I was astonished by the beauty this museum and the deep history behind this gorgeous museum. The painting are mind blowing with the most fascinating history and meaning. I was truly amazed by the creativity but into the ceiling and sculpture. This museum in heaven for science fanatics, there is a big gold steel ball hanging from the ceiling facing to the mirrored flooring, the meaning and scientific reason is interesting. This place is a must visit for everyone visiting Paris, from the history, art and science.
  • Amazing architecture and full of history. It's essentially a crypt for many famous people with ties to France. The view from the top is beautiful! It's not a must see while in Paris, but if you have done all the other major sites, then find time to visit here!
