The world's largest model railway layout, Miniatur Wunderland consists of 12,000 m (39,000 ft) of tracks built in HO scale (1:87). This awe-inspiring exhibit is divided into seven sections with over nearly 900 trains, 11,000 carriages, 300,000 lights, 215,000 trees, and 200,000 human figurines. The layout includes huge panoramas of the Alps, the American West, Switzerland, Hamburg, and the fictitious city of Knuffingen. The latter features its own airport, with planes capable of taxiing and even flying. Originally started in 2000 by brothers Gerrit and Frederik Braun, this project is continuously expanding. It's expected to reach its final construction phase in 2020. Save time by booking your tickets online. Call the site in advance to arrange a behind-the-scenes tour. • Unbelievably detailed, and it was great fun to seek out the many quirky, funny scenarios, often in hidden-away corners. Could spend hours going round the exhibits.

  • For the enthusiast! Sadly the 5 year old wasn’t impressed with our decision to go there. Impressive for adults and I could have spent far more time there than we were allowed! No social distancing...

  • I really enjoyed visiting this place and seeing the model locations and trains. . The details where amazing and fascinating. Had a really good time.. This is my boyfriends thing but this got my interested in this art form and even in the toilet they have miniature scenes in the walk.. would recommend this place for a visit
  • Great fun for young and old. There is a reason it's the number one attraction! You think you won't spend hours in there but time flies when you look for all the little hidden details, so schedule in at least 3 hours. Highly recommended!
