While millions of tourists flock to the city for its world-famous beer festival, few find their way to the tranquil Nymphenburg Palace. Renowned architect Agostino Barelli designed this sprawling, 200 hectare (490 acre) garden oasis, which was completed in 1675. The palace once served as the summer residence of Bavarian kings. The facade was redesigned in the French Baroque style in 1716, and now is about 700 m (2,300 ft) wide. You can visit both the gardens and their several museums. The most notable one, inside the former royal stables, contains one of the biggest horse carriage collections in Europe. Regular guided tours aren't available, but you can pick up an informative audio guide at the site's entrance. This is second time I visit this palace after 12 years, and this time with my kids. The Palace tour is impressive for the adults, but not for my kids. The garden is nice and good for walk, but not very impressive. There are a lot of parking space outside the palace. So feel free to drive to this place and have a good walk outside the palace.

What an amazing place! Nymphenburg Palace is underrated on many reviews and has so much to see and do. The palace itself is amazing but the garden palaces are the places to see. Once you start walking the palace grounds you come across the minor buildings that are just amazing and HAVE to be seen. The minor details of the smaller buildings are astonishing and something you could never imagine and shows you what true wealth was in the times of this palace. You need to dedicate several hours to visiting the Palace and it’s well worth the ticket price.
