Chania Town — 7 nights

The place where Cretan and Venetian cultures merged in the 13th century, Chania Town attracts throngs of tourists with its well-preserved medieval harbor.
Your day by day itinerary now includes Cretan Mountain Jeep Safari. You'll enjoy a bit of beach vacationing at Agii Apostoli Beach and Ammoudaki Beach. Get a sense of the local culture at Kastro Gramvoussas and German Military Cemetery. You'll find plenty of places to visit near Chania Town: Frangokastello Beach (in Frangokastello), Sfentoni Cave (in Zoniana) and The Church of Agia Aikaterini (in Anopolis). Agios Nikolaos — 3 nights

A tour of Agios Nikolaos leads visitors through charming neighborhoods with white washed houses, squares with taverns, steep pedestrian streets, and sea as a backdrop, ideal for exploration on foot.
Start off your visit on the 23rd (Mon): take in the architecture and atmosphere at Panagias Keras Church, explore the ancient world of Archaia Poli Tis Lato, then take in the architecture and atmosphere at Agios Georgios Monastery, then make a trip to Monastery of Kremasta, and finally pause for some serene contemplation at Cathedral of the Virgin Mary. On your second day here, don't miss a visit to Platanus Tree, then take in the spiritual surroundings of Kera Kardiotissa Monastery, then trot along with a tour on horseback, and finally tour the pleasant surroundings at Analipsi Beach.

Traveling by car from Chania Town to Agios Nikolaos takes 3 hours. Alternatively, you can do a combination of bus and shuttle; or take a bus. In September, plan for daily highs up to 32°C, and evening lows to 20°C. On the 25th (Wed), wrap the sightseeing up by early afternoon so you can drive back home.
