Get lost in the art-filled halls of Pera Museum, whose numerous galleries put a special focus on Orientalism in the 19th century. The building itself took over the space of the old Hotel Bristol, founded in 1893, and was renovated to feature a Victorian-era facade. On the first floor, stop to admire collections of colored tiles and pottery, as well as Anatolian weights and measures. From here, continue upstairs to see more than 300 works by European, Ottoman, and Turkish masters, including Osman Hamdi Bey. Several exhibits change regularly, so look for something new each time you visit. PutPera Museum into our Istanbul tour itinerary builder app and find out what's close by, where to stay, and where to head next.

  • Another very nice museum in the Istiklal Street. This museum is ina historical building with a nice coffee shop in it. When you have a lot of time, then visit this nice museum.

  • You have to visit while you are in İstanbul
  • An utter delight. After 3 crazy days seeing the main Istanbul sights we started our day here with breakfast in the elegant cafe, then thoroughly enjoyed the journey through the museum incorporating modern fashion and contemporary art, ancient artifacts etc. Nice little gift shop. Charming staff. We then had the full tea at The stunning Pera Palace Hotel a 2 minute walk away. It was a rainy day. Taxi rank opposite. Cab should be about 50TL back downtown.
